Spirit of Achievement Gala

The Spirit of Achievement Award

Since 1988, JA of Southern California has annually celebrated the accomplishments of a local or national personality at its "Spirit of Achievement Gala."  Nominees are selected from a committee made up of Junior Achievement board members.  The criteria for the honor requires the nominee named to be a singularly successful individual, who has made contributions to our community in both his/her own field and in promoting and supporting the needs of education.

This award represents the highest honor given by JA of Southern California and exemplifies our belief in the hopes and dreams which are possible through America's free enterprise system.  We celebrate important role models that today's youth can look up to.  Striving to reach our pinnacle of success, whether in education, business or in the life, the "Spirit of Achievement" is truly the epitome of what each of us hopes to become.

The purpose of this annual tribute is fourfold:

  • To bring honor to the Laureate, by recognizing their contributions to our community, before their friends, business acquaintances, and the community at large;
  • To showcase to the community the bright and outstanding talents of our local youth;
  • To raise the general awareness of JA’s role in the community; and
  • As a fundraiser to help meet the continuously growing demand for JA programs.

Honoring:

  • JASoCal Retiring President, Gary W. Hickman and State Farm Insurance
